Encouraging Jacksonsonians and supporters to shop to support youth in Jackson.
Jackson, MS., April 11, 2018 – Whole Foods Market Jackson has selected Keep Jackson Beautiful for its upcoming Community Giving Day. On Thursday, April 19, 2018 Whole Foods will donate 5% of their sales on that day to Keep Jackson Beautiful in support of the youth driven, Eco Ambassadors Program.
Whole Foods Market supports organizations that address community issues. Their focus is to support groups that strive to make the world a better place. Whole Foods believe a better place is one where the environment is preserved and replenished, communities are strong, health is a priority, organic farming is cherished, and where all living beings are respected.
Whole Foods Market Jackson will contribute to Keep Jackson Beautiful's Eco Ambassador program 5% of its total sales collected on April 19th. Keep Jackson Beautiful is encouraging community stakeholders, supporters and residents of Jackson to patronize Whole Foods Market Jackson on this day. Their purchases will benefit the continuance and growth of the Eco Ambassadors Program. This program connects students to their environment. It is a hands-on, action-based environmental stewardship program that fosters a new breed of environmental stewards for the future of our planet while encouraging environmental careers. The program will strengthen and increase partnerships by providing youth and communities with the tools to implement and produce creative and innovative solutions that affects our natural and built environment. The goal of the program is to help lift communities out of poverty through sustainable environmental solutions. The Eco Ambassadors will be the example role models to lead environmental change in their communities.
“KJB has been working with our Eco Ambassadors since last summer. Our job and goal is to encourage, mentor and give high school youth courage to be the change that they want to see in their communities. Three of our ambassadors are graduating this May and will be majoring in environmental careers in college. They are our future leaders and we are glad to be a part of their path to changing the dynamics of our environment.” (Alicia Crudup, Keep Jackson Beautiful’s Executive Director)
The Eco Ambassadors Program has five focus areas which are: Recycling (Preservation), Gardening (Food Security), Anti-Litter (Prevention), Greening (Beautification), and Youth Advisory Council (Stewardship).
“For over the last fifty-six years, Keep Jackson Beautiful has successfully been a model pillar in the community and at the forefront of keeping our Capitol City beautiful. This contribution from Whole Foods Market Jackson will help us support Jackson youth in becoming the leaders they were meant to be. We are grateful to Whole Foods Market Jackson for the important role they are playing in helping us achieve our mission in our communities.” (Alicia Crudup, Executive Director)
Funds from proceeds from Whole Foods Market Jackson will assist ambassadors with starting a farmer’s market at local schools as well as other Keep America Beautiful youth initiatives.
