Keep Jackson Beautiful hosts and brings to Jackson, Mississippi for its first time The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour, known as "the next Sundance". It is one of the largest environmental film festivals in North America and will be held at the Russell C. Davis Planetarium for one day - January 20, 2018!
The festival is set to inspire, inform and ignite individuals to be the environmental change in their communities by protecting the earth as well as human life for future generations. The festival will consist short films and documentaries highlighting important environmental issues including our feature film "Can You Dig This?" by Ron Finley (Special Guest) depicting a local issue Jackson is faced with that we have a Solution for.
Who Is Ron?
Ron Finley is a creative phenomenon: a gangsta horticulturalist, with a strong vision for community gardening and changing culture. Nicknamed the “Gangsta Gardener”, Ron Finley planted organic vegetables in the parkway in front of his South Los Angeles home and a revolution was started. Ron’s belief that gardens build communities has blossomed into a quest to change how we eat.
Today Ron’s mission is changing the composition of the soil in communities around the world through The Ron Finley Project. When he is not speaking, you can find him in the in the garden.
Join us for an afternoon of introducing individuals who have made a great impact and have brought great attention to the problems and solutions we face, today. These films are aimed to leave you feeling inspired and engaged. A special expert from across the country will be available to answer any questions and provide guidance on how you can get involved locally and throughout Mississippi. Admission is FREE!
Please get your tickets in advance to ensure you have a seat. There is limited seating! In order to see Ron Finley you have to be a member. There will be a early bird membership discount of $25. until January 19th.
